Steve Capelin spent his childhood roaming the backstreets of suburban Brisbane. He survived a Catholic upbringing and scraped into University where he was captivated by the campus politics of the late 60s. A restless young man, he worked in Canberra, qualified as a teacher, and travelled through Asia.
Driven to explore his creativity, he enrolled in every arts workshop available and eventually ran away to Melbourne (with a pregnant wife) to work as a clown. He subsequently co-founded a Brisbane based theatre company, spent a year as a stay-at-home dad, and edited a book about political theatre.
For the next 20 years he worked in local government leading arts projects and managing youth programs. Now semi-retired he has a passion for local community and local history and is writing a book based on his Italian great grandfather’s flawed dream of utopia. He has a his loyal and long suffering wife and two adult children.

Andrea Lynch grew up the eldest of 4 children and attended Catholic schools in a number of South East Qld country towns. In her teens she gained a broad education while living in a pub run by her father in a rough inner city suburb of Brisbane where crooked coppers drank and did deals. She attended University to study speech pathology but much to her family’s distress she also learnt about women’s lib, politics, and street protests. She has been with her partner Steve for 40 years and they have raised 2 children to adulthood. Andrea still enjoys living with Steve in their house in West End, Brisbane in close proximity to long term friends, culture, and a diverse community. She has made a late career change and loves her work as a counsellor.
